Oscar Marin


The Spanish tenor Oscar Marin was discovered by Montserrat Caballé. At her side he made his debut in Berlin at the Classic Open Air Festival under the baton of José Collado and the Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau.

He made his opera debut in 2003 in the opera “Marie Magdeleine” by Jules Massenet at the Klassik Osterfestival in Rome with the Orchestra di Roma e del Lazio. Montserrat Caballé took intensive care of his vocal training. Later he also worked with Francesca Roig, Giovanna di Rocco, Cynthia Sanner, Giacomo Aragall, Enrique Baquerizo, Carlos Chausson and Raúl Giménez.

Numerous concerts with Montserrat Caballé and later also with singers such as Lucia Aliberti, Karan Armstrong, Agnes Baltsa, or Sergei Larin, took him to the Royal Albert Hall and to John’s Smith Square in London, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, the Musikhalle Hamburg, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Liederhalle Stuttgart, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Stephansdom in Vienna, the Staatsoper Prague, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the Auditorium Giuseppe Sinopoli in Rome, Vicenza, Verona, Florence, Treviso, Como, Mantua and Turin.

Oscar Marin has also been invited to numerous international festivals such as the XV Festival Internacional de Peralada, the Festival de Música y danza de Alicante, the Euro-Mediterranean Festival Ostia Antica, the Wörthersee Festival in Klagenfurt, the Flâneries Musicales d´Été Reims, the Festival Piano en Valois Angoulême, the Nuits d´Encens Aigues-Mortes, the Spring Festival Moscow and the International UNESCO Festival Moscow.

He has performed with such important orchestras as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London, the Orchestra of the NDR Hannover, the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra Regionale di Roma e del Lazio, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and the Jeunesses Musicales Weltorchester.

Among the conductors with whom Oscar Marin worked were José Collado, António Guadagno, Vytautas Lukočius, Miguel Ortega, Igor Malinovski. Roberto Paternostro, Christian Thielemann and Johannes Wildner.

Oscar Marin was a regular guest on German television (including ZDF, ARTE Stars von morgen, with soprano Eva Lind).

Together with Monserrat Caballé he also recorded the duet “St. Sulpice” from the opera “Manon” by Jules Massenet for her album “Mir klingt ein Lied” (BMG Classics) and took part in the documentary film about the life of Montserrat Caballé “Caballé Beyond Music”.

His opera repertoire includes roles such as Cavaradossi (“Tosca”), Don José (“Carmen”), Radames (“Aida”), Canio (“I Pagliacci”) and Don Carlo.

In 2015 he appeared as Canio in a production of “I Pagliacci” in Alicante and made his role debut as Don Carlo in the Italian version of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera at the festival “Oper Burg Gars” conducted by Johannes Wildner, where he had great success again in 2016 as Cassio (“Otello”).

In 2017 and 2018 Oscar Marin performed at a gala concert with star soprano Hui He in China and at Verdi gala concerts in Germany. He made his debut in “La Fanciulla del West” at the Royal Opera in Copenhagen and made his first guest appearance at the MusicaMallorca Festival in his native Palma de Mallorca. In the summer of 2018 he can be heard as Cavaradossi (“Tosca”) at Oper Burg GArs.
