Association for the Promotion of the Castle & Opera BURG GARS

The Babenberg Castle in Gars is a unique cultural gem in the Kamptal area. For more than 30 years, it has served as the only opera venue in the Waldviertel region, hosting world-class opera performances and cultural events.

Since 2016, the “Friends of Burg Gars Association” has supported the activities of the Opera BURG GARS, particularly the annual opera production and various concerts held as part of the festival at the castle. The association helps to realize the artistic visions of the festival’s renowned and passionate directors.

A key mission of the association is to raise regional and national awareness of this exceptional cultural event and its significance. United by their shared passion for the arts, the members of the association are dedicated to attracting and inspiring audiences from near and far.

Another important goal is the careful preservation and continued development of the only remaining Babenberg castle complex, ensuring that every visitor’s experience remains enjoyable and memorable for years to come.
