Laura Madgé Hörmann
Costumes
Laura Madgé Hörmann completed her fashion studies at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, where her work has always been inspired by opera and costume design. Her final collection, for example, was based on the opera Tristan und Isolde.
Already during her studies, she worked on a project basis in the costume department of the Vienna State Opera, including contributions to the implementation of the chorus costumes for l’Orfeo and assisting Anna Viebrock on Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria.
In collaboration with young directors, she occasionally created the costume designs for productions such as Don Pasquale at Brick 5 and Salome at Dschungel Wien.
Most recently, she designed the costumes for the opera Acide, directed by Carolin Pienkos and Cornelius Obonya, as part of the 2023 Herbstgold Festival at Schloss Esterházy. She was also responsible for the costumes at the Opera BURG GARS, designing for L’elisir d’amore – Der Liebestrank in the 2024 season and for La Traviata in the 2025 season.
In her work, she aims to create atmospheric images that condense music, text and emotion into a kind of visualized dream world, which she calls her “Arte nuvolesca.”
