Getting There
The Babenberg Castle of Gars is prominently situated above Gars am Kamp: Am Schloßberg 25, 3571 Gars am Kamp/Thunau.

Getting There
The shortest route is via the A22 towards Prague. Take the Stockerau exit and follow the B4 towards Horn. About 10 km before Horn, a left turn leads directly to Gars am Kamp. Once in Gars, you will see the castle. At the roundabout, turn left and follow the signs uphill to Thunau, where the access road to the castle is immediately on the right.

On selected dates, you can also take advantage of the Opera BURG GARS bus transfer. Further information is available here.
Shuttle Bus
On all event days, enjoy our free shuttle transport to the site, available until shortly before the performance.
Departure: from 6:00 PM on
Stops: Gars/Thunau train station (Departure 1), Bio-Schober (Departure 2)
Passengers get off the bus at Gasthaus Klackl (Castle exit) and are required to walk the remaining short distance by foot.
No prior registration is needed. The shuttle runs as needed along the route to Schloßberg.
ATTENTION: If you require a shuttle back after the performance, arrangements and pricing must be made directly with the shuttle driver. For the return journey, get on the shuttle at the same stop where you got off.
Parking
Plenty of parking spaces are available at Gars/Thunau train station.
From the center of Gars, a walk to the castle takes about ten minutes at a leisurely pace. For guests with limited mobility, dedicated parking spaces are available near the castle. If needed, please contact the Opera BURG GARS office at +43 2985 33000 or office@operburggars.at.

Kulinarik
Bernd Fleschitz and his team take care of our visitors’ culinary needs before the performance from 6:00 PM, during intermission, and after the show at the castle. In his food truck, Bernd prepares delicious regional specialties as well as refined dishes inspired by international cuisine, including modern vegetarian delights. Selected wines from the Kamptal region, freshly tapped beer, and trendy drinks are also available. Nothing stands in the way of an enjoyable summer evening for all the senses, with exquisite food, drinks, and world-class opera at Burg Gars!
