David Baños, Tenor

David Baños

Tenor

Pinkerton

(July 21, 25, 30)

The spinto tenor David Baños is one of the most internationally sought-after Spanish tenors and has made a name for himself particularly in the Verdi and Puccini repertoire. His brilliant, expressive voice with exceptional squillo is equally appreciated by audiences and critics. He perfected his vocal technique with José Sempre and Francisco Ortiz; today he works with the Italian bass Gianluca Breda.

In 2015, Baños debuted at the Opéra de Massy (Paris) as Riccardo in Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera under Dominique Rouits.
In 2016, he won the International Singing Competition of Logroño and made his Italian debut as the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto at the Teatro Politeama in Catanzaro under Filippo Arlia.

In 2017/2018, he was a guest soloist at the Romanian Opera Craiova, where he sang the roles of Cavaradossi (Tosca), Radamès (Aida), Don Carlo, and Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly).

2019/2020 saw engagements as Calaf in Turandot at the Teatro Cervantes in Málaga, as well as Alfredo (La Traviata), Manrico (Il Trovatore), and Pinkerton at the Wrocław Opera in a production by Giancarlo del Monaco.

In 2021, he appeared as Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra at the Brașov Opera and performed a tribute to the Spanish tenor Miguel Fleta in Zaragoza.

In 2022/2023, he sang Don José in Carmen in Reggio Calabria and Pilsen, and Radamès in Aida at LAC Lugano.

In 2024/2025, he interpreted Manrico in Il Trovatore and Verdi’s Requiem at the Łódź Opera. He also debuted as Andrea Chénier and Luigi (Il Tabarro) at the Romanian Opera Craiova and established himself in the Verismo repertoire with Turiddu (Cavalleria Rusticana) and Canio (Pagliacci).
In addition to his opera engagements, David Baños has performed in concert with Barbara Frittoli, Elena Modica, and Iwona Sobotka and has been a guest at renowned festivals such as Carcassonne, Taormina, Peccioli, and Varna.

In 2026, he sang Tosca at the Teatro Rossini in Civitanova Marche and Rodolfo in La Bohème at the opera houses of Clermont-Ferrand and Massy. This was followed by Gösta Berling in I Cavalieri di Ekebù in Rovereto, the title role in Andrea Chénier at ABAO Bilbao, a Puccini Gala Concert at the National Opera Bucharest, and Radamès in Aida in Graz, Klagenfurt, and Bärnbach.
